Exclusive: Overwatch #1 Dark Horse Direct Variant Bundle Revealed
Overwatch and Dark Horse Direct are teaming up for a comic bundle that features a brand new print featuring Widowmaker and Tracer.
On the heels of Overwatch: Tracer - London Calling #1's physical release, Dark Horse Direct and Blizzard have revealed exclusively to Screen Rant a new bundle that will showcase a new variant cover along with a high-quality lithograph from artist Babs Tarr.
Overwatch is a first-person team shooter developed by Blizzard Entertainment. The game has been extremely popular since it debuted back in 2016, as the fast-action, diverse character roster, and impressive lore have kept players consistently entertained. Blizzard's made sure Overwatch is more than just a gaming experience, releasing digital shorts and comics to add new wrinkles to the character's backstories. One of those stories, Overwatch: Tracer - London Calling, released its third issue digitally this week. The comic's first issue, written by Mariko Tamaki with art from Babs Tarr (Batgirl of Burnside), is being re-released in comic book stores this week and Blizzard and Dark Horse Direct are releasing a special bundle to celebrate the physical release.
Overwatch's new bundle will feature both an exclusive variant cover and a fine art lithograph from artist Babs Tarr that features Widowmaker and Tracer's battle in King's Row that led to the assassination of omnic spiritual leader Tekhartha Mondatta. In the print, Widowmaker can be seen firing her sniping rifle as Tracer tries to get in the way of the shot - sadly, Tracer's attempt to save Mondatta fails when the bullet goes right through her chronal accelerator. The comic and print are limited to 500 copies and the print is done on high-quality, shimmering pearlescent paper that is full-bleed and hand-numbered.
For fans of Overwatch, the exclusive bundle is a must pick-up, as it's not only a great way to jump into the Overwatch: Tracer - London Calling story, but a great way to show off your love for the game and it's continually awesome expanded media. The rooftop battle between Widowmaker and Tracer in the 'Alive' short is one of the most harrowing moments in the entire series and set the stage for what to expect in the game. The comic and gorgeous print is a great way of further build on the iconic moment.
The bundle is now available for pre-order on Dark Horse Direct's official website, as the variant and print are $49.99. The exclusive variant bundle will ship on December 18th, 2020.
